
King David
King David was chosen by God to be the second king of the Kingdom of Israel, centered in Jerusalem.
King David's reign was the begining of the eternal royal dynasty called the "House of David", which will conclude with the arrival of Mashiach.
King David is known for the many trials and sufferings he underwent. Yet, through it all he constantly turned to God, both in times of great danger and in times of salvation from his enemies. These prayers are found in the Psalms written by King David himself, who is also called Neim Zemirot Israel.
King David's life was destined by God to be cut off three hours after he was born. Adam who was shown his future descendants bestowed seventy years of his own life in order to ensure the world of the future legacy of King David.
King David was born and died on the Jewish holiday of Shavuot .
